Frequently Asked Questions
If the answer to your question is not here please ring me on 07534 651534 or e mail to ask me
Q What will happen when I ring you?
A If I am available I will answer the phone. I will ask a few questions about how I can help you and some brief details about what is troubling you. If we agree that we would like to meet we will arrange a suitable day and time. I will explain how to reach my garden office. This initial call generally takes up to 10 minutes.
If I am not available please leave a message with your name and number and I will ring you back as soon as I am free. Otherwise please e mail me and I will either e mail or ring you back. If you have a preference please say.
Q What will happen at the first session?
A At the first session my aim is to understand why you have come to see me and how I can help. I will ask questions to gain more information about you and your background. I will talk to you about confidentiality.
Q What will happen at the end of the first session?
A At the end of the first session we will discuss if you want to book the next session or think about it and ring me. I do this so you do not feel pressurised to make a decision there and then. We will also discuss how many sessions you would like to attend counselling for as this helps us set realistic goals.
Q What types of payment do you accept?
A I accept cash or cheque. Payment is made at each session.
Q How long is a session?
A Each session is 50 minutes long.
Q What happens if I miss a session?
A If you need to miss a session I ask for at least 48 hours notice of cancellation. Missed sessions without 48 hours notice of cancellation are charged at the normal session rate. If you are going on holiday we can discuss this separately.
Q The problem I have isn't listed by you - what shall I do?
A It is impossible to cover every problem or symptom a person may experience. Please give me a ring and we can discuss your particular circumstances
Q Do you work at the weekend?
A I work on some Saturday mornings for a maximum of 12 sessions with a person. If at the end of 12 session you would like to book more sessions we will discuss how we can find a convenient time Monday - Friday
Q I work shift work - can you offer flexibility on day/time of sessions?
A Having worked shifts myself I understand how difficult it can be to arrange a fixed day and time each week. I am happy to discuss your individual needs to see if we can work out a schedule of sessions.
Q Do you offer telephone or skype counselling?
A I do not offer telephone or skype counselling.
